Where it overlaps with the mandatory rental check

For an owner-occupied home, a gas heater service alone doesn't include the full gas safety check scope (there's no mandatory ventilation or full-installation leakage test outside the rental system), so if you want that broader assurance, ask the gasfitter specifically for a whole-installation check, not just an appliance service.
