Rockhampton sits on Australian Gas Networks' reticulated natural gas supply, and the same statewide gas compliance certificate rule applies as in Brisbane.
Rockhampton is one of the few regional Queensland centres with reticulated natural gas: Australian Gas Networks (AGN) runs a Northern Region network covering Rockhampton and Gladstone, separate from its Brisbane-area network. The compliance rule doesn't change because of that separation. The same Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004 and the same RSHQ Portal lodgement process apply, so a licensed gas fitter working in Rockhampton issues the same gas compliance certificate as one working in Brisbane.
Plenty of Rockhampton-area properties, particularly rural-residential blocks and outer suburbs off the reticulated network, run on LPG instead. Queensland's QBCC gasfitting trade licence and RSHQ gas work licence/authorisation don't carry a stated public liability insurance condition: QBCC's published licence eligibility requirements cover technical/managerial qualifications, financial requirements and, for some licence classes, professional indemnity insurance, not public liability cover. It's worth asking to see a current certificate of currency before hiring rather than assuming it's a licence guarantee.
